Onboarding Templates
Onboarding templates define the tasks and steps that new employees (or departing employees) need to complete as part of their joining or leaving process. You can create separate templates for onboarding and offboarding, each with a customizable set of tasks.
What you can do here:
- View all onboarding and offboarding templates
- Create new templates with custom tasks
- Set a default template for each type
- Duplicate templates for quick setup
- Archive templates that are no longer needed
- Search and filter templates by type
As of September 2026, this page is temporarily unavailable. The Onboarding Templates nav item was removed from Settings → HR & People during the settings reorganisation, and /settings/people/onboarding-templates now shows a “Soon” placeholder. The information below describes the last working version — verify against the live app before relying on the on-screen configuration UI.
Understanding the Templates List
Each template card displays:
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Template Type | Onboarding (green icon) for new joiners, or Offboarding (red icon) for departing employees |
| Default Badge | Shown if this template is the default for its type. The default template is automatically applied when no other template is specified. |
| Inactive Badge | Shown if the template has been deactivated |
| Description | Optional description of the template’s purpose |
| Task Count | Number of tasks configured in the template |
| Usage Count | How many times the template has been used |
| Edit Tasks | Link to open the template and manage its individual tasks |
| More Actions (⋯) | Edit, Duplicate, or Archive the template |
Search and Filter
- Use the search bar to find templates by name
- Use the type filter dropdown to show: All Types, Onboarding only, or Offboarding only
How to Create a Template

Managing Templates
Edit a Template
Click the more actions button (⋯) on a template card and select Edit to update its name, description, default status, or active status.
Duplicate a Template
Click the more actions button (⋯) and select Duplicate. Enter a new name for the copy. This creates an identical template with all the same tasks, which you can then customize.
Archive a Template
Click the more actions button (⋯) and select Archive to remove it from the active list. Archived templates can no longer be assigned to employees.
You cannot change a template’s type (Onboarding/Offboarding) after creation. If you need a different type, create a new template or duplicate an existing one of the correct type.
